Uneven sound- chipmonks at 2 minutes

Hello Team;

I am so glad you are here. I record interviews with a 6 minute intro. Usually I am trying to combine the 6 min intro file with the interview file.

Audacity will record for 2 minutes and then switch to the fast chipmonk recording speed for the rest of the interview. I thought it was a virus so I uninstalled Audacity and then reinstalled it. No luck.

So I moved to another computer and Audacity worked fine. Until now ...when the chipmonk voice now comes in at 50 secs. And this is when I am recording directly into Audacity with a Shure mic. It happens even though I am not moving that file anywhere.

What can I do to prevent this?

Thanks a million!

Marilyn

<<<directly into Audacity with a Shure mic.>>>

Can you get a little more particular about the pieces in the middle? The Shure microphone part number______ was plugged into)____, etc. etc. That will help us track the error.

Are you saying that you can record a track and while you're listening back to it it sounds fine for the first minute or so before suddenly speeding up?

Or are there two tracks you've recorded at different times and the second one speeds up relative to the first?

Or are you listening to something while you're recording and the track you're listening to during the recording suddenly speeds up?

The more specific you can get about what you're doing the quicker we can help.
