audacity with usb speakers
hello! I need to know if there is any way to record streaming audio now that I have switched to these usb speakers? I was able to record before thru the speakers thru the sound card but now it does not find the signal , wondering if I ran something thru the line out or something to get it working or just go back to the other speakers....thanks........joe
Re: audacity with usb speakers
If your speakers have a line out, then you can probably feed that into the line in of your sound card (but watch out for feedback - you need to ensure that the line in signal is not coming out trough the speakers or it will squeal).
This will not work from the line out from your sound card as the audio is being sent to the USB speakers and not to the sound card.
You should be able to have both your USB speakers and the old speakers connected at the same time, and switch between them as necessary (though you are unlikely to be able to use both speakers simultaneously). This is probably the easiest set-up. To switch Audacity between using the sound card or the USB speakers for output, "Edit menu > Preferences > Audio I/O tab" and change the "playback device".

--or--
I have licenses for Total Recorder for the PC and WireTap for the Mac. Either of these will easily record anything the computer happens to be doing. They both have schedulers so you don't even have to be there.
