Getting this thing up and running???? Iconnex sound card, with USB cord & Audacity CD, so I can burn all my old LP's, and Cassettes. Downloaded CD, plugged in USB. Shows recording, but it is burning to the computer hard drive, and not the burning to the Blank CD. Also cannot get sound from internal speakers in computer, or on monitor, or a set of plugged in ones during recording, when it says that all of these devices are functioning. Will also not play back because of Error message COOD1199 using windows media player. (coodec) Format not supported. Dell Inspirion computer, Windows Vista , and the Audacity programs. The short of it, It's a good thing I'm not Foreign Country with nuclear capacities. Because I would have nuked, all three companies by now for all the BS trying to figure this out for the last three days. I have tried all the tutorials, and got no where between Dell, Microsoft, and Audacity. I'm about this close to chucking the whole damn thing. Someone somewhere has to have some answers. So if you got them, about some help. I got some Little Feat just dieing to get burned to a CD.

If the version of Audacity is lower than 1.2.6, then go to the Audacity web site and download version 1.2.6 or the latest 1.3 version. The downloads are hosted by SourceForge and they have some big adverts on their web site, so take care that you use the correct download link and don't end up with a demo version of some other product.

Audacity does not burn CDs, it is a multi-track recording and editing program. You need to record the music and then Export the recording as a 16 bit WAV file. You can then use a CD burning program (such as Nero or Easy CD creator) to burn the files to disk. When you burn the CD, take care to select "audio CD" as the CD format and not "Data CD".

If you Export the recording as 16 bit WAV file, then it will be supported by Windows Media Player.

For Vista, the 1.3 version of Audacity is recommended rather than the old 1.2 version.

OK people I've done some of these things. Audacity 1.2.6 exe.file was successfully downloaded. I got sound thru the computer, got audactiy to work recording. Pulled the file to burn it to the CD. But when I went to play the burned CD, it would not play, error message does not support Codec. I have switched to the WAV format. Now what? I got today the 16th and 17th off all day, I like to get this thing up and running.

See the "Tutorials" link at the top of this page. There is a full walk-through for recording and burning to CD.
