input choices

Post by johnalene » Wed Feb 04, 2009 6:17 am

Audacity, in my old computer (XP) showed six options for input; on my new computer (XP) there is no choice offered. For example, I can't record from the Internet, using Wave Out/Mix. There isn't even a grayed-out menu of choices.

Does the new machine need a sound card upgrade?

Probably not. They're making that harder and harder to find. Certain laptop Windows machine deleted the tools altogether. Did you crank through the help systems on the forum?

I don't do any of that. I have a license for Total Recorder.

Hey,

I'm an XP user and having a similar problem. The only two choices I have in the mixer are: Microphone and Line out. I have tried all the suggestions that are relevant on

http://audacityteam.org/wiki/index.php? ... trol_Panel

but nothing seems to work. Is there anything I can do?

thanks
