I'm a newbie to Audacity and hope to use this s/w to record sermons at my church. I'd like to be able to split the sermons into 5 minute tracks. I'm testing it out at home and when I try to export multiple feature I get a "unable to open target file" error. My sample file is just a recording of a song I have on my pc. I've been searching every forum I can find and thus far, I've saved the Lame file to my Windows/System folder, ensured no illegal characters are anywhere in the file, and split the sample track into labels. Not having any luck here. Any suggestions?

<<<no illegal characters are anywhere in the file,>>>
Hmmmm. That's what almost always gives this error. What are one or two filenames?

What location (folder/directory) are you trying to Export to?
You have sufficient free disk space?

the labels are named "t1", "t2", "t3", etc. the life itself is named "multipletest". I'm trying to export to C:Program FilesAudacity just for this first test. I def have sufficient space, the track is only 2 min long. Just made this track for testing purposes so I'll know what to do when its gametime

ok, found the problem. i was trying to create a directory in the Export Location field that didn't already exist. This little gem from the wiki page enlightened me:
"In 1.2.x versions of Audacity you need to choose a directory that already exists - you cannot create a directory by typing its name in the Export Location box"
thanks for the help guys. i love (and hate) how its always something simple like this.
