digital effects removal??

Post by ryan12891 » Mon Feb 02, 2009 11:09 pm

I enjoy listening to film soundtracks, but the problem is with most of them they record the orchestra, then add loads of funky digital effects so it sounds unnatural.

A while back some guy on youtube posted a few songs, off the casino royale soundtrack. He had removed the effects and just left the "original recording" as he called it. Like it is played live.

So i asked him how he did it, and he said at his old school (he used to live on the other side of the country) he used their ICT suite and removed the digital touch ups using an audacity plugin, which he can't remember the name of. He said this

"audacity synth remover plug in or something like that"

But i cannot find anything!!

Help me!

He's pulling your leg, there is no "audacity synth remover plug in".
There have been a couple of reports of people on YouTube doing amazing things with film sound tracks, including removing reverb and sound effects, removing the music and effects to just leave the dialogue, and other wondrous things. There are also reports of the Loch Ness Monster, Big Foot, Flying Saucers and Aliens. You may be able to achieve some degree of improvement using "ExtraBoy" (there's another similar plug-in who's name escapes me at the moment) but it will probably require a lot of fiddling around for not much result.

I shall look into that :)

But the wondrous things CAN be done, and indeed I can do them. If a DVD is mixed in 5.1 sound then the music can be totally removed, or isolated. Its just this undigitalisation that gets me!

I have exactly the same problem. I'm having trouble removing my Loch Ness Monster. Can you help?

@koz; I've noticed that you have commented on film & DVD's a few times. Is there a way that I can use a red filter in a video editor to cancel out the blue screen Chroma-Key effect so that I can watch my Jurassic Park DVD with the actors, but without the scary dinosaurs?
