I am trying to upload a screen shot of the file. which is a 105kb JPEG but the browser button wont allow me to select the file, this happened before and I believe I had to have permission to upload???

Re: Problem Importing File
Nobody has permission to upload. The forum isn't that big. What you're supposed to do is upload the work to your own web site or other service and point to it.

In any event, you don't need to do that. Audacity doesn't support Windows Media WMA files. You can try Switch or Super (Google) to convert what you have to something (wav) that Audacity can understand.
It's typical for a foreign, misunderstood compressed music file to play really fast. It plays in real time, so a 3 times compressed music file will play three times too fast.

Re: Problem Importing File
There is experimental support for WMA files in 1.3.7 beta. It requires that you have a very recent version of ffmpeg installed and working on your machine. (Just spent a large part of last weekend getting it to work on my Linux computer, but now it is installed correctly it works great).kozikowski wrote:Audacity doesn't support Windows Media WMA files.

Re: Problem Importing File
Then why is there an upload attachment tab next to options, with the facility to browse for the attachment, & why when this happened previously was I allowed to upload jpeg screen-shots???stevethefiddle wrote:There is experimental support for WMA files in 1.3.7 beta. Most other forums I use allow low res jpegs, PTE, & others. I tried a second time after my original post and managed to get the browse button to find the file, then upload, then an error message "This is the wrong type of file".?????

Re: Problem Importing File
I think you got the wrong quote there stearman65.
JPEGs can be uploaded to the forum, but there is a size limit. If the file is too big, it won't let you.
PNG and GIF are also allowed. I'm not sure off hand what other formats or what the file size limit is, but if pictures are too big, they don't display well and slow down the page load.
