audacity stops recording after about 30 secs

Hello i'm new at using audacity, after installing audacity i can record the complete side of a record, and work with it, then when trying to record another album the recording stops after about 30 seconds, everytime the time differs 
i have vista home edition and my plaing device is a turntable (Akai ATT05U) attached directly to the USB port. i tried installing and setting up audacity anew, but the same problem occurs everytime 
can anyone help me on this issue?
