I'm goin' with the cat.

Audacity will quit if it either runs out of hard drive space or can't get to the space it has due to fragmentation. Audacity will not work into a fragmented hard drive.

When you throw something in the trash (or recycle bin) Windows just moves the work around a little, it doesn't really "trash "anything. To really get rid of stuff you have to empty the trash.

Right click on the trash bin and "Empty Trash" should be one of the options. Then if you check your drive, there should be extra room available. You can't undo this, so make really sure you want to eliminate whatever is in there.
