Can't get true stereo

Anybody able to help here?

I only get left channel through both speakers when recording Audacity 1.4 on VISTA.

Hooked up as 2 (Stereo), but only one channel records.

Very strange.

I am having the same problem recording vinyl. I am on Vista with Audacity 1.2.6. The Channels are set at 2 (Stereo) under EditPreferencesAudio IO. The same thing comes across on both channels.

Some recordings are also a little "tinny", with some sounds boosted and some minimized. I am trying to figure that out. My default sample rate is set at 44100 Hz and the Default Sample Format is 32 bit float.

Any help is appreciated!

Are you passing the signal through a preamp (so thTt you get the RIAA equalisation)? If you are lacking in bass this may well be the case.

I am using a USB recordable turntable. Connection is straight from turntable to USB port. I am aware of no pre-amp. Thanks!

Then it is most likely that the USB TT has an embedded pre-amp. In which case make sure that you have the setting correct - as many can have line level output or phono output (which will by-pass the pre-amp). HAve a good read of the manual.
