ION 1.4 with VISTA

Howdy,
I bought Windows VISTA and installed this turntable on my computer. All seemed to be going just fine until I realized that only the left side of the record was being recorded and it was playing through on both the left and right channels. It kinda sounds MONO, but I'm only getting one side through both speakers. I have the program set for (2) Stereo recording.
The only thing that I didn't do was hook up the left and right speaker wires. I thought the USB Cable would handle the stereo configuration. Is this the problem? Or is there some other thing I am missing?
