I've been using Audacity for about a week now. Nonstop. For a project that is due tomorrow.

I recorded and edited 15-20 sounds and have begun copying them into one window to begin placing them in the right order and timings and whatnot.

All the sounds I copied (after the first one) are slowed down and I can't figure out how to get them to play at the recorded, normal speed!

Please help! I may lose my job if this is not done in time. Thank you in advance!

It's usually a very bad idea to change locations, folders, or directories after you start a Project. Audacity will look for files in the same location--always. If they're not present, very odd things can happen.

So put the files back where they were.

When you get things in the right order on the timeline, Export As WAV to get a sound file you can send to somebody. Audacity will not Save a sound file.

I didn't move or change the locations. At least, I don't think I did.

What did you mean by that? If you copied music files from one place to another, Audacity will lose track of where they are and try to play the effects files instead. Those sound weird.

How full is your hard drive? My Computer > Right Click on C: > Properties. Sudden computer insanity after billions of hours of intense editing could be a drive filling up. No drive on an editing machine should be over 90% full.

Have you defragmented recently? That will kill a production, too--or strangle it.

Actually, I figured out the problem. I didn't match the rates. I was copying a 44100Hz clip into a 8000Hz project. All I had to do was change the rates.

Try to remember that in case someone gets stuck with the same problem. Me? I think I'll just figure it out on my own if I get in trouble again.

Oh, and I never said I was computer-illiterate. I know what happens when files get moved and hard drives get full. Do you?
