Hello All,

Just looking for some advice here. I'm using the ART USB Phono Plus v.2. I just returned another one because I thought it was defective, but I have the same problem with the new one. Am I missing something?

1. I can hear sound from my cpu at the monitor, headphone jack, so the output is OK.
2. I am able to hear a line level input at the monitor jack on the ART, but it isn't coming back out from the cpu.
3. I can't hear my optical input at all, not even on the preamp, probably because the digital dosn't run through the preamp.
4. The USB Audio Codec is selected as the recording and playback devices in Windows.
5. In Audacity, the USB device is selected in the Audio I/O options, but no signal when I record.
6. I have the exact same problem using two pc's, one Vista and one XP.

I've spoken to the ART tech support people. They thought the other one was defective. What are the chances of 2 devices with the same problem? Any ideas?

Hi I've had problems getting my PC to recognise a USB mike. Not sure what your device is but your problem sounds similar. I assume your PC recognises the new hardware? (double tone & note on bottom bar). If this is happening, wait 30 seconds for your PC to re-set from what the USB socket was last used for. Assuming recognition open audacity, edit, preferences, Audio IO, your device should be shown in either recording or playback devices. If it isn't there, un plug your device and plug it in a different USB socket, it should now appear. If it doesn't, are you plugging direct into a USB hub or your PC. If a hub, remove it and plug direct into your PC USB socket. Failing that, if in XP go to control panel, sounds & audio devices, open the audio & voice tabs, is your device listed in any of the boxes, if not it's either the device, the USB plug or your socket. If you have multiple USB sockets on your PC try them all.

That's about the limit of my knowledge.
