ION turntable problem

An issue I am having while recording my vinyl using Audacity is that part of the song, typically an acoustic guitar track, can barely be heard, as if that one track needs to have it's level brought up. Has this happened to anyone else? Any suggestions?

No, my ION's electronics (when I still had it) were absolutely fine. I onl'y abandoned it as it gave too much wow&flutter -= probably due to the very lightweigt platter.
Check that the cartridge connectors and headshell - and the USB plug are all secure and not loose.

Headshell......oops, too late.
You can also get this if your speakers are wired wrong. How are you listening to the work? Does it still happen on headphones? If you make a CD, does it happen in your car?

All connections seem good, though I'm no electronics expert. And it can't be the speakers, because the sound is the same through headphones, and on the CD I burned. It has also happened with more than one record.

We keep leaning on the headshell/cartridge because you can get symptoms like this if one of the four cartridge wires doesn't go through or is dirty (by "dirt" I mean electrical oxidation, not cat hairs). Did the cartridge come in a separate box and you had to screw it in to use the turntable?
If so, carefully pull it back off and reinstall it two or three times.

No, the tone arm and cartridge are all one piece. The only thing that come off is the needle.

Shucks. Did you save your receipts?

Hmmm ... well, yes. But I'm hoping to avoid shipping it back. Think I'll try ION tech support before I give up. Thanks for your suggestions.

Good plan, I found the ION tech support lines both in the UK and the US extremely helpful when I needed assistance.
