There is an analog time bar at the top of the page (A 1.2.6), but why is there no running clock when you are playing back a track.
Also, why is it that when you stop and start, the cursor doesn't stay at that point, as opposed to returning to the initial playback point.

As you say, you can see the play time by looking at the time bar. I guess that it was considered unnecessary to duplicate that function.
To stop the cursor in the current position, press "P" or the "Pause" button.
