Problems changing rate from 22050 to 44100

Why is it that when I change the rate from 22050 to 44100 on some files and export it, it reverts to 22050? FRUSTRATING! I can't seem to get the rate to change no matter what I do!

Where are you getting "some files" from? Audacity 1.2 was bad about accepting and trying to play music files it didn't really understand.
You are changing the sample frequency with the little Project Rate window at the lower left of the edit window, right?

Regular song files. Realized what I was doing wrong - I was only changing the sample rate in the drop-down menu and not in the bottom left corner. DUH!
