As long as the USB works correctly, then for recording it does not matter what sound card you have as the USB replaces the sound card for recording (the sound card is completely bypassed).

The reason for the proviso is that we see quite a few reports of problems with USB turntables, though these are usually with the cheaper models so hopefully it will work fine for you.

If you play your finished recording directly from the computer, then the quality of your sound card will largely determine the sound quality, but if you intend to burn CD's and play them on a CD player, then again it does not involve your sound card so you should be able to get nice recordings with any old sound card.

You may still find it convenient to get a reasonable quality sound card and decent headphones if you are wanting to do any "audio restoration" of old recordings, but that is probably not an immediate essential requirement.

If you check out the "tutorials" link at the top of the forum, there is a tutorial about recording from a USB turntable.
