Audacity and Dell Inspiron 530 s. Any good experience?

Post by cariocastyle » Mon Jan 05, 2009 1:58 am

I am about to install Audacity on a Dell Inspiron 530 s, in Vista.

In fact I don`t have a PC myself and I am sending it to friend to install it on his PC. He needs to record sounds for me and he doesn`t know very much about computers.

I would like to know if anyone has had good experiences with a Dell Inspiron 530 s and Audacity. Will it be easy to install with Vista concerning the drivers etc? Is it easy to do ? Any suggestion will be great !

Many thanks.

Installing Audacity should not be a problem, but configuring Vista for recording may provide a few headaches.
Fortunately there is a guide in the Audacity documentation:
http://audacityteam.org/wiki/index.php? ... s_Vista_OS

Oh, nearly forgot...
Use Audacity 1.3.6 (or later when available) rather than 1.2.6
Make sure that there is a recording device available in the Vista control panel before you open Audacity (see linked page for details).

Yes, I have been using Audacity (1.2) for a while on my Inspiron 530 with Vista and have had very good success, so you should be fine. I plan to upgrade to 1.3 soon but have not had any problems so I have been waiting until I finish a current project so I don't wind up with some files in one version and some in another.
