Post by foggo » Thu Jan 01, 2009 5:40 pm

i am new user so this is basic query. I have saved album tracks to project but want to edit . The toolbar allows me to playback from beginning or end of project but not where I choose in the middle. How do I get playback of project where i choose so I can check edit changes

Open up your music on the timeline and click inside the blue waves. When you press the spacebar, Audacity will start playing from that point. Spacebar again will stop it. Select somewhere else and play from there.

Audacity will not let you fast forward or fast reverse.

Obviously it shouldn't do - don't you see a vertical line if you click in the middle of the waveform? If not I suggest you reboot the computer then try again. If what you mean is that when you *stop", then start again, playback resumes from where you originally started, not from where you stopped, that's how it is. If you want to resume playback from the stop point, you will have to use Audacity Beta 1.3.6 and use the SHIFT + A shortcut (you can change the actual shortcut to something else at Edit > Preferences: Keyboard tab).
