I have a Memorex 2650MMO usb turntable & am using Audacity 1.2.6 to record. I have Vista Home Premium on my laptop. When I try to record an LP I can hear it playing & it seems to be recording, but there are no flucuant waves showing. I tried it also on my XP computer, but it still does the same thing. I have done several tests & exported as a WAV file, but there is no sound when I review it. Please help! Thanks.

Thanks. I tried everything, but still no success. I still hear the record playing on the turntable, but it is not recording. Any other suggestions or do I return this turntable? :?:

What do you have set as the recording source in Audacity Preferences (Edit > Preferences > Audio I/O) ?

The answer is in the link that I posted earlier.
Your turntable is USB - you must select the turntable as the recording device, not your sound card.
See the link for more information.

That is the turntable. The instruction manual says to select AK5371, but in the list the only choices are Microsoft Sound Mapper & Microphone AK 5371. I think I disabled the microphone that was originally showing in Recording Devices under sound because it no longer shows there. Maybe I goofed up something .

The turntable must be connected to the computer and recognised by Windows before you start Audacity.
Try rebooting (with the turntable connected to your computer. Allow Windows to fully boot up, then open Audacity and look for a USB recording device in the Audio I/O tab of the preferences.

I tried this but the computer doesn't seem to recognize the device. Do you have any suggestions?
