Recording other tracks although it should not

Post by zvi » Sat Dec 27, 2008 3:11 pm

Hello,

When i am recording guitar through line in with audacity i have drums track playing in the background (Playthrough). In the new track guitar is being recorded but also drums track is recorded as well only very silently. I have selected "Line in" recording input in the control panel.

Do you think this is audacity / driver / sound card problem?

I'm using AC97 integrated sound chip and Windows XP

Thanks for your help.

Make sure that you have selected "Line in" as the recording source in your RealTek AC97 control panel (or the Windows Mixer, if available).

(The sound card control panel controls the sound card through the sound card drivers. Audacity just tries to access the sound card settings, but many of the newer sound card drivers ignore Audacity).
