Need initial conditions to load WAV

Post by jpb42 » Fri Dec 26, 2008 11:28 pm

I am a novice user. I just installed v1.2.6 successfully and tried to import an approximate 90 second WAV file recorded with my camera. The file indicates a bit rate of 64kbs. The file loads into a pane less than 11 seconds long and the SW used an 8 bit unsigned format to load. I’ve tried combinations of preferences but have not been successful in getting anything but a screech on playback. What settings are suggested to load this file?

I know of no cameras that save sound as straight, uncompressed WAV files. It's really a compressed Something that Audacity doesn't recognize. Convert in Super or Switch [Google] to a nice WAV file (44100, 16-bit, Stereo) before you edit in Audacity.

Alternately, there may be a conversion utility that came with the camera.
