Unwanted Noise on second track

Post by theking182 » Tue Dec 23, 2008 6:26 am

as the title suggests, i'm getting a weird noise whenever i play back a second track. I'm recording using a microphone, but I don't think that's the problem. the noise is a kind of rumbly, loud noise that is inconsistent and just sort of happens. I'm pretty sure it doesn't have anything to do with the volume level either, as it happens when the recording is loud as well as when the recording is soft. Does anyone else experience this and know how I can fix it? thanks.

Are you recording with "What You Hear" turned on? This is a common Windows problem. When you turn on "What You Hear," Audacity will record everything twice with sometimes subtle feedback or delay distortions.

Can you upload a SHORT sample (preferably in FLAC format) somewhere on the internet and post a link to it.
