Unable to open target file for writing

The subject line contains the error message I'm getting when trying to export multiple MP3s. I've done this numerous times with this being the only time I've encountered any problems. I've tried to figure it out and have been unsuccessful. Anyone got any suggestions? Thanks in advance!! Jim

You can get that under a number of circumstances.
--MP3 exports require a bunch of drive space. How much do you have and have you defragged and error checked? Audacity will not work into a badly fragmented drive no matter how much room there is. Right click on the hard drive and properties. How much room do you have? No production machine is allowed to drop below 10% free space--and that's after the show loads.
--Restart Audacity and/or the machine if you haven't already. You can't "clean out" 1.2 Windows Audacity, so you might want to install 1.3. You can have both on your machine as long as you don't try to use both at once.
--Can you still export one of your old shows? You can get that error when you have a damaged show on the timeline.
But do the drive thing first.

Thanks for the help Koz!
As it turns out, there's another reason for the message.... I used illegal file name characters in some of the label names... arg!! Your suggestion of trying ver 1.3 is what led me to discovering it. With ver 1.2, the multiple export function closed down with the very first label (which had illegal characters). With ver 1.3, it bypassed the labels with the illegal characters and created the labels that were OK, giving the error message after it was all done. That obviously allowed me to investigate the difference between those it created and those it didn't. Thanks again for your help!
