Dragon Naturally Speaking 10

Post by stevekohn » Mon Dec 08, 2008 4:39 pm

I am inexperienced at Forums and not great at techie stuff. I have been using Audacity happily for my grandchildren's sound bites for years. I just installed Dragon NS 10 and can no longer upload from my digital recorder to Audacity. I uninstalled DNS 10 and Audacity worked again. Then I re-installed DNS 10 and Audacity stopped working. Nuance has not yet been helpful. Has anyone encountered and solved this situation?

It seems that you've worked out that DNS is causing the problem, and it sounds like the program is hijacking your sound system.

I've not got DNS, but something that may solve the problem.
(This is for XP - for Vista you will find something similar here: http://audacityteam.org/wiki/index.php? ... bar_Issues )

If you currently have DNS installed, go into the Windows Control Panel and find "Sounds and Audio Devices".
On the "Audio" tab, look to see what is selected for the default recording and playback devices - DNS may have changed the settings away from your sound card, in which case you will need to change it back.
