Sample Rate Help

Post by Corbienest » Mon Dec 08, 2008 2:40 am

Let me start by saying, I know absolutly nothing about sound editing. I am simply using this software to turn my mp3s into ring tones for my phone.

Please bare with me as I try to explain what I need help with.

Apparently my sample rate in order for me to use the song on my phone needs to be 22050H so I can upload the song to the website and then message it to my cell phone to it as a ring tone (complicated, I know, but I don't currently have a memory card). When I try to upload my file I get the message saying that my sample rate is above 22050.

I am running into the 2 following problems.

While I think I have figured out how to change to sample rate to 22050H, once I export it to an mp3 file, not only does it seem to have gone back to the sample rate of 44100 but it becomes very, very slow.

Does anyone have simple (remember I have no idea what I am doing here, other than cutting away bits of the song) step by step directions for me to follow? Any help is greatly appreciated!

Thanks,
Me :?

It should be possible to change the project sample rate with the little button in the lower left. If you Export a WAV file after you do that, the new file should be at the new sample rate and undamaged--except for the mud you make by reducing the sample rate too far.

22050Hz will not carry good fidelity sound (but I'm sure your phone isn't going to care).
