Recording volume control

What controls the level of recording, the mic volume or the output volume. When I adjust the output volume the recording level changes.

Windows machines have the ability to record their output show. On some machines this is called "What You Hear." If you're set up that way, then both the input and output settings will affect the volume of the recording.

You probably don't want that because it causes a lot of troubles.
