"Add Label at Selection" and the letter Z

Post by doverwood » Wed Dec 03, 2008 9:27 pm

This may sound odd but here goes...

When I use "Add Label at Selection" Alt B to put names to songs before doing Export Multiple the letter "z" will not work. For instance if I typed "waltz" it won't take the letter "z". I have to rename the file once exported to add the "z" and rename it in iTunes after importing. Any ideas why?

You win on Sports Call®. I suspect you have no other option than to upgrade to 1.3. Audacity 1.2 for Windows kept its preferences in the Dreaded Windows Registry. Abandon Hope All Ye...

Once that gets scrambled, there's no way to fix it, unless you're really good with regedit and backup files. You can try to remove and then re-install Audacity and hope all the Registry settings die, but Audacity has a history of having them hang around.

I think Audacity 1.3 is in your future. Advanced versions kept the preferences in an audacity.cfg file which is easy to manage if you have problems like you do.

I have no clue about registry edits so I'll try the new rev. Thanks

The basic problem is tha lower-case z is used as a k/b shortcut (for find-zero-crossings) - it is a known bug in 1.2.x and is fixed in 1.3
