Repairing corrupted .wav file?

Post by replicat0r » Wed Dec 03, 2008 2:23 pm

I am very desperate tryin to recover a corrputed wave file...i really hope someone can help me out...

i used the iphone app iproRecorder to record lectures.. at one time, the application crashed prematurely. however, i see the file is there and its 80mb. but the app in iphone wouldnt open it in playback. nor will other players on windows. when i tried wavsaver. it repaired, but the file is 1k.
same deal with audacity to export raw data and gold wave... but no dice..... really need to recover the lecture..havin exam next week... can anyone help me

this is the website for the software
http://www.iprorecorder.com/

apparently it uses

"All audio files are uncompressed .WAV files for compatibility with computers and portable media players."

and 1 more thing.. when i open with itune, under Duration. it just said Not available.
so im thinking it might be the header at the end... that wasnt properly encoded.. i donno can someone help me

You could try SUPER from erightsoft - it is a free format transcoding program for Windows.
If SUPER is able to open the file, you should be able to output from SUPER as a correctly formatted WAV file.

You could try using Audacity's 'import raw data'. Choose 'Signed 16bit PCM', 'Little Endian', and probably 'mono'.

The sample rate should be either 11025, 22050, or 44100, but you can change that later.

If the track turns out to be static, you can try an odd number for the 'Start offset'.

If you mean that SUPER can't open the file, then I don't fancy your chances on being able to salvage it. It is most likely too badly corrupted.

If you mean literally that "SUPER doesn't work", as in "the program does not work" then you are doing something wrong - I use SUPER all the time and it most definitely works.
