request simple instruction on erasing parts of recoding

I wonder if somebody would be good enough to help me with a simple way to edit the recordings I have made on an Eidirol. I have the oral recordings onthe computor,I have downloaded Audacity> I wish only to keep some portions of the recordings or divide some into two or three tracks or just erase sections of the recording.I thought this would be simple like A-B editing with minidiscs but I cant see How to do it ,I hope you can help

That one isn't too hard. Highlight or select the portions you wish to keep and File > Export Selection...as WAV. If you don't hit it exactly, don't worry, you can open the WAV files later and trim off any parts that slopped over.

That one's easy, too. Highlight a section of the timeline and press Delete.
