Voice recording; pausing and restarting on the same track

Hello

When I record voice into Audacity and am forced to pause and restart in the middle of the track to delete a mistake, etc. how do I get it to where when I start recording again, it gets appended to that same track instead of opening up another track beginning where the last one ended. I know that they all get mixed together when saving, but I don't like having 20 different tracks open, as it gets confusing.

Thanks for all help.

In 1.2 you can't do this.

In 1.3 (and the upcoming 1.4) you can by hitting Shift+Record or Shift+R - I find this very useful in 1.3 when flipping over an LP to record the second side.

The Beta is actually pretty stable now - so you might want to consider moving to 1.3

How about just marking the position of the mistake with Ctrl+M then carrying on and when you have finished, go back and correct all the mistakes.

That's helpful advice too. I didn't know I could do that. Thanks Steve
