so my audacity has started echoing while recording, now suddenly it doesnt record at all. when i hit record the line is completely flat it doesnt move around a little before i start recording and doesnt record. I have deleted it from regedit and reinstalled, doesnt help.
please tell me how to fix or just tell me another free program that will record

Windows Sound Recorder is free and that records.

By default, Windows Sound Recorder is limited to recording a maximum of 60 seconds, but if Windows Sound Recorder works, then we can most likely help you to get Audacity working. If Windows Sound Recorder does not work, then the problem is not with Audacity, but with your computer sound system.
If the problem is with the computer sound system, check your cables, check that the sound card is installed correctly, check the Windows Mixer.
