Grayed out mixer toolbar

I have the same problem as Chabrow, posted yesterday, I have tried all the answers as posted in this forum and also in Wiki, nothing works, I have a new computer and i'm running XP service pack 2, any help will be really appreciated.

Also, try Audacity 1.3.6 , it has better hardware support than the old 1.2.6 version.
