Track Alignment.

Hi I am compiling a conventional slide show and converting it to PTE & Audacity, the original slide timings were set by adding a bleep to the sound track which activated the projector. Unfortunately the bleep track is 23 seconds shorter than the master track. I have attached 3 screen shots to illustrate the problem. The question is- can I align the tracks automatically in audacity without having to resort to adding and deleting silence manually. The descrepency is not consistant along the length of the 65 minute show.

<<<PTE & Audacity>>>
Sometimes it's not a good idea to use abbreviations in a question. PTE??
<<<The descrepency is not consistant along the length of the 65 minute show.>>>
Nowhere is it written that the 44100 or 48000 sound clock frequency has to be traceable to National Bureau of Standards. Most of the time the frequency comes from a cheap crystal device on the sound card. Crystals change frequency with age and more importantly, heat. So if one track was recorded on a machine with a good stable crystal at 44105 and the other from a damaged sound card running, on average, 44098. You get two hour-long shows, neither of which comes out to 60 minutes.
The video people run into this all the time. "We're both running 48000 audio, but the sound guy gave me a track that was twelve seconds longer than the video."
You can try to use the speed changer tools. Effect > Change Speed...

Hi Kozokowski
PTE = Pictures To Exe the AV editing programme by WNsoft. I don't think changing the speed will have the desired effect as one track is in front of the other, then as it proceeds it drops behind, hence inconsistant. Both tracks were recorded on an analogue tape recorder by the same person but at different times. The difference in lenght stems from the speed of the spoken word. Thanks for your interest.

Can we assume this wasn't a Time Code or pilot tone Nagra tape machine, but a consumer machine? Can we also assume both tracks are wrong?
I can't stop my lips from forming the words "you have no show" unless you go in manually and gently push things around.
