I am in the process of creating a remix. I wish to use a certain portion of audio (and others as well) in matching the piece of music I am trying to remix. Right now, I am trying to match this portion of audio:

With this piece of music right here:
http://media.putfile.com/audio2-30
As you can see, I have worked hard in using a time track on that portion of audio in an attempt to match that piece of music beat for beat, but ended up with a strange result. I wish to match portions of audio with music entirely--pitch and all. For example, with that heavy metal music, there were some instruments playing and with that one portion of audio there was only one instrument playing it. I wish to do something as to the effect of replacing all of the instruments that are playing that heavy metal music with that one instrument playing that one portion of audio which would result in that one portion of audio playing just like the heavy metal music. Therefore, how can I perfectly match pieces of audio with music this way? Is there some sort of software I can download that can do this? (Simply put, I wish to have instruments from one song play another song).

Re: Matching portions of audio with music
In Audacity 1.3.6 there is a tool in the "Analyse" menu called "beat finder" that may help.

Let us know how you get on.
If you start out life with all the instruments on separate tracks, then you have a fighting chance with the vocoder and other ring-modulator software. Separating instruments from a mixed show for further production is in practical terms impossible.
The closest you can get is one of the voice isolator packages, but there are some severe problems with using them.
