Audacity Forum

Is there a way to have Audacity save the control layout so that I don't have to drag the "VU" meters and such around every time I open it? A casual glance at other posts didn't turn up a quick answer.

I haven't used 1.2 for a while now, so I can't remember if this is correct behaviour (but a quick test on my old 1.2 vn shows that this is what happens on my PC too). But in the Beta version 1.3 Audacity does remember these setttings, it stores them in the user's audacity.cfg preferences file.

1.3 is pretty stable in its last couple of releases 1.3.5 and 1.3.6 - so you might want to give 1.3 a try.
