back ground music for commercial

Post by eagleone » Sun Nov 09, 2008 1:57 am

good evening,
before i start i will tell you i'm new to audacity and in a hurry to get my project off the ground. what i'm trying to do is record ads that i can run during a live internet show i'm going to do.
i'm going to have 30 sec. and 1 min ads. what i'm trying to do is run some music in the background after i record the ad so it doesn't sound so plain. the i need to link ads into a 5 min block so i have just 1 file for each break period. if you could help it would be really appreciated. if you can walk me step by step i'd be very thankful. my e mail address is dsurace330 at aol.com
ps its going to be a internet show about racing intheturns.com will be the link

Audacity is a multi-track editor - so you will probably find it easier if you record the music and the ad on separate tracks - both in the same project - record one first then the other (or import the music tack and then record the voice in a new track). You will be able to control the volume of the two tracks independently, so you can get the music as a low background level. Then when you export your production file (to WAV, MP3 or whatever) Audacity will mix the two tracks to a single stereo pair.

The "Tips" and "Tutorials" in the Audacity wiki (link at top of page) are a very good place to get started in Audacity. Everyone should have a quick read of these:
