Audacity Is Recording Everything Including Itunes

Post by Dwalk27 » Wed Nov 05, 2008 3:52 am

Hi Could someone help me

im using both the stable and unstable version of audacity on windows xp service pack 3

im currently trying to record voice over a song track and everytime i do it, it records the track im trying to sing over producing some horrid distorted recording of my voice and the track, im using headphones to have the track playing, i have unchecked all the playthrough software stuff and that and its still doing it, i tried to play the track through itunes and just record my voice using audacity and it even records itunes, it never used to do this just every 6 months or so i have a fine run with audacity but with it recording low then it just changes to recording my voice at normal levels but starts recording everything

if you could please help me it would be fantastic this problem annoys the crap out of me

You may have asked Windows to record "Mix-Out" or "What You Hear." Either of those sends the total performance output of the computer back to the Audacity record service. Your voice arrives twice hence the distortion.

You get to mess around in the Windows Audio Control Panels.
