Audacity 1.2.x is now obsolete. Please use the current Audacity 2.1.x version.

The final version of Audacity for Windows 98/ME is the legacy 2.0.0 version.

Copying mp3s in correct order

Post by talkingnews » Mon Nov 03, 2008 5:52 pm

Sorry if this is an old forum topic but as newbies we can't find the answer we need. We are an unfunded charity creating recordings of news items for blind people. We record using Audacity and create unnamed track breaks with Ctrl+M during the recording. To turn the recording into mp3s we use Export Multiple, Split Files based on Labels, then Name Files Numbering Consecutively. This gives track names as follows: n0, n1,n2, n3 etc. When we then copy the mp3 files to memory sticks for distribution, the files do not appear on the memory sticks in the right order. For reasons of time we don't want to rename the tracks after recording as there can be up to 50 of these! Can anyone please tell us how to get the tracks to copy onto the memory sticks in the right order. Thanks! ;)

When you view the files, order them by date rather than by name. You should then see them in the correct order (or reverse, depending on if you order in ascending or descending order) .
