Audicity doesnt work at all.

Ok, just downloaded it. I dragged a .mp3 in to Audacity, and noticed it had been shortened significantly. (from 3+ minutes to 7 seconds) When ever I try to play any part of the song, I get this garbled static sound. I've tried this on many diffrent songs. Please help!

Sounds like it isn't an MP3 - Audacity does this when you try to import filetypes that it doesn't recognize. Audcity can import WAV/AIFF, MP3 and Ogg files (and in 1.3 additionnally FLAC).
Any other filetype must be converted to a recognisable filetype (preferrably WAV) prior to import into Audacity - or you could play the filie in whatever player s/w you have and record it into Audacity.
