I wanted to know if anyone knows how to remove curse words (or any word selected) from a track without using reverse, silence, or etc.? I want to remove the vocals but still keep the beat! Is this at all possible? Your help would be greatly appreciated.

P.S. - Don't Need Any Smart.... Comments!!!

There are several ways that you could do it, but I think all will require manually locating the words in the audio track, then "treating" the tack in some way.

The simplest method would be to use the classic "TV bleep".

To bleep out a word, select the region that contains the word, the from the Generate menu, select "Tone". The duration will already be filled in to match the selected region, so you will just need to put in the amplitude and frequency. An amplitude of about 0.5 (higher for louder up to a maximum of 1.0, smaller for quieter to a minimum of 0.0), and a pitch in the region of 800 to 1000 Hz should work quite well.

For a less obtrusive method, you can use the Equalizer effect to drop down the level of frequencies in the range of around 500Hz to 2500 Hz. This will make the words very indistinct, but you will still have some sense of the music.

Another approach that may or may not work (depending on the recording) would be to use the "vocal remover" method on the offending section. See here for details: http://audacityteam.org/wiki/index.php? ... al_Removal
