are there electronic instruments?

Post by dontcallmebitterman » Fri Oct 31, 2008 6:28 am

does audacity have electronic instruments available, as macs garageband does? i am used to having the ability to accompany my real instrument tracks with drums, strings, whatever from the computer. if audacity has them, how do you change between microphone input and electronic instrument input?

Audacity only has simple tone generators, noise generators, and in Audacity 1.3.6 a few other simple sounds built in as standard. However, if your sound card is able to record "stereo mix", then you will be able to record any stand alone virtual instruments with Audacity. Also, you can import instrument samples, or recordings from other software.
