Low input volume from Samson L3200 USB port

Post by ChurchSound » Mon Oct 27, 2008 1:12 am

Hi, I just upgraded my sound board to a Samson L3200 and am trying to use the USB port to record sound from the mixer. When recording using the USB audio codec and having the record volume maxed out, there is still not enough input to create a waveform in Audacity. I have been abble to use one of the aux channels of the board and my sound card and can get a good recording, but one of the main reasons we upgraded the board was to use the USB feature and free up our output channels. Any suggestions. Computer is runngin Windows XP pro with service pack 2.

You've set the record volume "maxed out" where? On the Samson L3200?

There is no sound level on the Samson L3200 for the USB output, it follows the main output from the board. On the input volume on audacity I have the input volume maxxed.

Have I got the right product?

The input volume in Audacity is only for conventional sound cards, and even then, not all sound cards support it. It is unlikely that the Audacity input volume control will have any effect on a USB interface.

And how high is that metering (on the board)?

See page 15 of the Samson L3200 user manual. If you don't have the manual, you can download it from http://samsontech.com/products/productp ... &brandID=2
