little help please

hey guys , i have a problem, i have 2 pcs one used windows xp the other uses vista. the windows pc has under the recording options a few selections, stereo mix, wave, microphone ect.. allowing me to record windows sounds. the vista machine has the same version of audacity installed but has this dropdown tab greyed out and it only ends up recording form the mic. how can i fix it to record from the windows wave sounds.
