When I try to record in Audacity, everything works fine, but my recording gets clipped automatically at 0.5 and -0.5 -- it never goes to the 1s. It looks like there is a default envelope set at 0.5. I can change it after I record, but I can't seem to change it before I record, since Audacity just makes a new record track that clips at 0.5 and -0.5.
I don't think it is my hardware, but I will list it here to be sure:
M-AUDIO Fast Track.
I can adjust the levels so everything records fine, but just at a lower volume. If I try to turn up the volume on the USB preamp box, it will always clip at the 0.5 level....
Any ideas on getting the full range to record? Is there a setting I am missing?
thanks...
Andy

Re: Recordings clipping at 0.5
Try recording using the Windows Sound Recorder.
If you get the same issue, then you need to be looking at the audio drivers and Windows Sound System set up rather than Audacity. If you can get full scale recording in Windows Sound Recorder, then we need to be looking at Audacity.
