Problems recording...

Hi, I have encountered issues when I was trying to record something.

You see, I ALWAYS have used the "What U Hear" option, but now, it's been disabled. In fact, in the mixer toolbar, the drop-down menu has been disabled! I saw the topic that it might be disable in Vista, but I'm using XP. And it's worked before! I can't figure out how to fix it.

I even plugged in a microphone and everything! Every time I hit the record button, it gives me an error message:

"Error while opening sound device. Please check the input device settings and the project sample rate."

Does anyone know how to solve this problem?

Have you connected a USB audio device of any kind?

The microphone I plugged in was USB, if that's what you mean.

But that shouldn't matter, because it worked before when I had it plugged in....I dunno what happened...

USB audio devices will commonly "take over" the audio system, so you will need to check what device is selected for recording and for playback in Audacity (Edit > Preferences > Audio I/O)

I did...but does that solve the "What U Hear" problem? o.o Because that's what I need at the moment...
