What driver do I need to install for multi-track recording?

When I try to record on Track 2 while listening to Track 1 in my headphones, all that gets recorded is a louder version of Track 1. I'm using a standard computer mic, and I've messed with the input and output settings under the computer's sound settings. I have an HP Compaq business Desktop, running Windows XP. I believe it's a driver issue.

Generally what you want to do should work, providing the sound device is "full duplex", meaning it can record while playing back. Quite frankly I suspect you are recording from the "stereo mix" option instead of the mic option. Choose the mic input in the Audacity Mixer Toolbar dropdown, or in the Windows Control Panel:

If this still does not work after selecting mic in the Windows Control Panel and restarting Audacity, then you can try updating to the latest drivers for your sound device made by the manufacturer of the device (or by the motherboard manufacturer). See:
