Audacity 1.3.5 Beta Vocal Removal

I have installed the 1.3.5 Beta, which said it supported new vocal removal plug-in, I was not in the base product so installed the LADSPA plug-ins, still looking for it under the effects menu.

Any help on find where this feature is and how to use it appreciated.

It is underneath the divider in the Effect menu "Vocal Remover (for center-panned vocals)". If you still can't see it, go here, and click "download" at the top (to right of "Links to HEAD"). If you just get text in the browser window, right-click over the link and "Save target as" or "Save link as". Then drop the file into your Audacity Plug-Ins folder and restart Audacity.

The function did appear and I was able to utilize it, on some songs it works better than others. I think there are no magic wands when it comes to vocal removal. Thanks again for your help.

True. If you have not seen it already. take a look at:

which mentions some third party plug-ins/standalone apps (free and otherwise) which may help where the vocals you want to remove are not center panned, or there is too much stereo reverberation added.

I'm new to Audacity and I'm trying to use the Vocal Removal tool.

After going to Effects and selecting the option nothing happens. Is a window supposed to pop up? I don't see anything happen so am wondering how to utilize the tool.

...And needless to say, select the audio you want to apply the effect to first, which sounds as if it's the problem.
