I am new to using audacity. I have downloaded audacity onto windows xp and everything is running fine. I am using a usb headset with microhone to record my voice. However, when I wish to playback a recording the sound will only come out of my speakers after I have unpugged the usb headset form my pc, otherwise the sound only comes out of the headphones. Can anyone help me figure out how to leave the usb headset plugged into the pc so I can listen to my recording without having to unplug all the time? Please help.

When you plug in a USB device like this the sound services are handed over entirely to it - both input and output. So what you need to do is to reset the output sound device to be your computer's onboard soundcard - in both Audacity via Preferences and in Windows via the control panel.
