Playback Problems
I recorded a song from a CD from a portable CD player using a line from the phones out jack on the CD player to the mic in jack on my Dell Vostro 1500 computer. When I played it back, the first two seconds sounded great just like the CD, then the rest of the song sounded like something from Star Trek. Any suggestions?

Re: Playback Problems
Why are you bothering to record a song from a CD? You would be much better off ripping the track from the CD with some good ripping software to produce a good WAV file (iTunes can do this for you and can be downloaded free from the Apple site - there's plenty of other ripping software available).
The only time you may need to actually record from a CD into Audacity is when the record company has applied wretched DRM so that the CD cannot be played on a PC, or ripped to an MP£ player or iPod.
